A Real Writer Listens!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

That is so true.

I’m a very busy writer, pumping out a brand-new short story every 12 days. But in order to keep up this creative momentum, a busy writer needs to keep his/her ear to the proverbial “ground” to stay way ahead of the reading public’s likes and dislikes. And to hack new genre trails where none were before

I read short stories for pleasure, for ideas, even for selfish business reasons, to monitor the competition.

That being said, what short story have YOU enjoyed lately (and by what author)?

What about that short story kept your interest to the end?

I also want to use today’s post to ask you avid short story readers an important question:

If you could step into my writer’s shoes for a day, what previously untold story theme would you want to see on the digital page (and why)?

Your feedback, with your name and country of origin, will be much appreciated. If I develop your short story idea, I will publish it on www.LongShortStories.com for the world to see, giving you written credit for your idea. You will also receive a One-Year subscription to LongShortStories!

I look forward to hearing from you before August 31, 2009, on this blog page.

Thanks much!

Where the Short Story LIVES!

NO, LongShortStories are NOT Long Short Stories!

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

The short stories that I write carry a word count typically of 2500 words or less. Some may be a little longer; many are a lot less. The true short story is, well, short by nature. That’s what gives them their unique power and magic!

“Long short stories” or Novellas, on the other hand, weigh in in the tens of thousands of words. They are Novellas, or short novels by definition, after all.

LongShortStories is my writing brand, composed of my last name and what I write for a living.

So, for those of you who came to this Web site looking for the best in state-of-the-art short stories and flash fiction, you have come to the right place!

For those of you who came seeking out Novellas, please stay and enjoy the Free Samples, this Wayne’s Blog, and then rush back home to craft your best short story entry for the LongShortStories Short Story Contest! Tell your friends about us. Subscribe to our RSS feed. Buy a story or two at the Pay-Per-View store. Better yet, dive right into a One or Two-year LongShortStories subscription. Where the Short Story LIVES!

Thank you.

I still can’t believe it!

Michael Jackson … dead?

But after witnessing today’s glorious television tribute to Michael held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, I know with assurance … he’s NOT dead.

He’ll never be dead!

Because he is the music and the music is him.

He was a witness to the needs of humanity, crying out in the wilderness.

He came to bless us with His harmony, His melody.

He brought with him his Father’s gift …
the music of the spheres!

Thank you, Father-Mother-God for lending Michael to us … in our time of need.

We are now changed so that we can effect change.

We are the world!
