May Is International Short Story Month!
Wednesday, May 6th, 2009Yes, that’s right!
There is a groundswell of interest in fostering the short story form, and I, for one, am so happy for that!
LongShortStories has been bravely forging ahead for nearly two years now, satisfying the global hunger for great adult short stories. My loyal subscribers have commented on how much they look forward to a terrific brand-new short story every 12 days in their inbox. Thank you!
Sure, it requires total dedication and a great love for the genius of the short story, to do what I lovingly do every day. But rest assured, LongShortStories fans, YOU DESERVE THE BEST! And I will give you my creative BEST in each and every piece I write for you!
I come from a rich legacy of great short story writers:
Edgar Allan Poe
Raymond Carver
Alice Munro
Flannery O’Connor
Aldous Huxley
Sherman Alexie
Anton Chekhov
William Faulkner
and surely you know the great Stephen King!
We all have (had) minds that are bubbling over with delightful, strange, maybe even heartwarming short stories that we simply cannot keep to ourselves! You, the fantastic present and future LongShortStories readers, are the lucky beneficiaries of this long legacy.
I will do my part. And I know you will do yours!
Best May wishes to you all, and don’t forget to enter the LongShortStories Short Story Contest! Another anonymous donor has just come forward to add to the prize money. More on that shortly!
