Short Story Contests

LongShortStories is hosting two exciting adult short story contests in 2009 and beyond! We are looking for the best ORIGINAL, UNPUBLISHED adult short stories from the best adult short story writing talent out there today! Is that you?

RULES for the FREE LongShortStories Short Story Contest:

  • All short stories shall be Word format, 2500 words or less. Please note your entry’s Word Count on your manuscript.
  • Any short story genre is acceptable, except children’s stories, or those that are overtly pornographic or those that promote hatred against others.
  • No simultaneous submissions please.
  • LongShortStories will publish the First, Second, and Third-place winners’ names and their stories on this Web site’s “Wayne’s Blog.” Each winner will receive one month’s exposure there, and then will be permanently archived on this site for future “Wayne’s Blog” readers to enjoy. All future publication rights will revert to the winning story writer(s) after their story’s first posting on this Web site.
  • E-mail your contest entry to: wayne@longshortstories.com.
  • E-mailed entries shall show: Story Title, Word Count, Author Name, Postal Address, e-mail address, along with a cut-and-pasted version of the full story in Word format. Show “Contest Entry” in your Subject line. No attachments please. Last minute entries will be frowned upon!
  • The LongShortStories Short Story Contest will receive entries from January 1, 2010 until its deadline June 30, 2010, at midnight (Central USA time zone). The second LongShortStories Short Story Contest will receive entries from July 1, 2010 until its deadline December 31 of the current year, at midnight (Central USA time zone). In the event of an insufficient number of entries received in one contest, LongShortStories reserves the right to roll those entries into the following contest's entries, to assure that there is a fair selection process.
  • January-June contest: Results will be posted by July 15. July-December contest: Results will be posted by January 15 on the “Wayne’s Blog” page of this Web site.
